Randoncorp and the Elisabetha Randon Institute dedicate their efforts to the climate tragedy experienced in Rio Grande do Sul, where the company has its main headquarters, where a large part of its professionals and the majority of its industrial and administrative operations are located.
Preventively, in the period between May 2nd and 6th, part of the operations in Serra Gaúcha had a temporary suspension of manufacturing activities.
The Controil unit, from Frasle Mobility, in São Leopoldo, which had activities suspended on May 3rd, returned to in-person activities in all areas and work shifts on May 27th.
Another unit affected was DB, from Rands (Financial and Digital Services Vertical). Although its physical structure was not impacted, DB's operations were affected due to customers who suspended their operations due to flooding – and who had DB teams allocated internally.
From the beginning, Randoncorp adopted the necessary measures to adapt operations to the scenarios experienced, such as continuous monitoring and prioritizing, above all, everyone's safety.
Support and emergency actions – Affected employees and communities
With the intensification of the rains that resulted in the current climate tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul, the company mobilized to provide the necessary support for employees and their families and the impacted communities.
Randoncorp maintained continuous monitoring of its affected professionals, in several cities. In the first phase, emergency, in order to meet the first needs, such as delivery of food, drinking water, hygiene and cleaning items, clothes, mattresses and medicines; in addition to social services, psychological care and telemedicine, both for employees and their directly impacted families. These professionals also have legal advice and financial guidance.
Subsequently, the company began a stage of financial support for impacted employees, including those from the Controil unit, Frasle Mobility (headquarters in São Leopoldo), DB (headquarters in Porto Alegre) and also professionals from Randoncorp in Caxias do Sul and other impacted regions, of the various business units.
Mapped professionals who had to leave their homes due to a risk situation are receiving this financial support; those who suffered partial losses and need to buy goods, such as furniture and appliances; and employees who suffered more severe and total losses of their housing assets, who need support to rebuild their homes. The values that can be accessed by each employee vary depending on the impact suffered by each one.
In addition, employees were able to count on the advance of some financial resources, such as the advance of the second installment of the thirteenth salary and advance of part of the PPR (Randoncorp's Profit Sharing Program), for those units where this possibility was available. .
Cash donations to employees come mainly from the company's own resources and also from amounts collected through the employee donation campaign, the employee cooperative, Cooperando, and the Sicoob Institute.
Randoncorp and the Elisabetha Randon Institute (IER) have also been involved in supporting the community since the beginning of this tragedy. The resources for these actions, such as support for employees, come from the company itself, in addition to the cash donation campaign via PIX - promoted by IER. There are also support fronts that result from the coordination we promote with other agents, such as suppliers, customers and partners.
Among the main actions already carried out, in addition to the provision of basic and emergency supplies, a tank semi-trailer was made available for the distribution of drinking water in partnership with the Red Cross, the donation of fuel to assist emergency teams, and pallets for use in shelters. , the donation of a drone to the Fire Department to help rescue victims, and lighter and more resistant squeegees, built based on a project developed by the company, to help clean impacted homes.
Furthermore, the IER has continuously worked on fundraising campaigns in partnership with the Caxias Foundation, so that donations reach those in need quickly across the State. The Randon Distributor Network and the supply chain are united in collecting and transporting donations throughout Brazil. At the Anhanguera Distribution Center, in Caxias do Sul, we have teams and equipment dedicated daily to the logistics of donations for the entire State. The company also provided air and ground logistical support for the delivery of medicines and other items.
Support for the reconstruction of our State
We know that this journey does not end here and that many other actions will be necessary to rebuild our State. Unfortunately, the catastrophe left a lot of damage and this humanitarian crisis will continue for the long term.
In this sense, in addition to emergency actions, such as those already being carried out by Randoncorp, the Elisabetha Randon Institute (IER) and various civil society agents, others will be necessary for a long time. The focus of the company and the institute is directed to the cities where Randoncorp operates that were impacted and to other regions heavily affected by the floods. The planned action fronts are linked to social impact, promotion of industry and entrepreneurship, support for impacted schools and road infrastructure. Due to the complexity of many of these projects, more time is required for analysis and execution. The initiatives that add to those already carried out will be widely publicized.
The actions of Randoncorp and the Elisabetha Randon Institute - described above - have been continuously updated on the websites of both institutions, as well as on a landing page dedicated to the topic that you can access by clicking here.
